Every time I don’t know where to start but I need to introduce myself, I always say I am CAT-holic. Although it also answers my religion. It says pretty much more about how I adore and praise cats more than anything, which has been who I have really been for the past 2 decades of my life up until I became a wife, a mom, just before the pandemic started.

QUICK LOOK BACK ON HOW MY WRITING STARTED

Although you may not find me professionally publishing my writing prior to Medium, I had a very early start on pen names when I was 10 for our school paper. However my love for writing started way younger, at 7 I began my first short story. And as much as I would like to keep memorabilia of it, my mom who finds my penmanship so awful threw them away thinking it was all scratch papers.

I found out about Medium when someone from one of the Facebook Groups I was, was looking for a platform where she can express her thoughts about politics but fend off the internet trolls.

Then on I checked the platform and saw that I can be paid for writing. Given the current country I am in, it was a bit of a struggle to activate the Medium Partnership Program, which I will share in another article (check out my table of contents for updates)

BUSINESS TALK TIME

Fast forward to 23 years after my first attempt to write and I am rather excelling in similar creativity as my career path, marketing. Even though I am not strictly writing, the ability to create stories, have them told, heard, seen, and if lucky, loved, has been one of my career milestones.

Currently, I offer professional services for strategic marketing, integrated marketing, business development, creatives, and related consultation.

The recent writing jobs I got paid for were academic or research writing and some press release not relating to the brands I handle as a Marketing Professional. The most recent one was a book I was a co-writer of. More about that at the later part of this article.

My heart has also fallen in love with entrepreneurship and technology. I was a self-taught Adobe Photoshop user since 2003 when I was 12 years old. It was still dial-up and Youtube was not even born yet. Just imagine what self-taught was like then. It was more adventurous, more mistakes, more time, but was more fulfilling and fun. I also had my fair share of businesses that lived and died. I am hoping to one day establish a company that can thrive across all odds and decades if not centuries.

Enough of digressing, as a writer, I love pouring my heart out than getting technical on it. I guess my job has given me enough doses of technicalities already which is why I want a platform where I can express as much creative freedom as possible.

With a schedule prioritizing my adorable 1-year old, I strive to write as often and as relevant as possible. Once the dust settles, I look forward to writing a good mix of technical and creative writing both here in Medium and on my upcoming website.

When my little one is asleep, I am either keeping our home tidy, spending time with my husband, or pushing my GMAMA Shop online stores in Lazada and Shopee where you can get a copy of a book I was a co-writer of, “New Normal, New Beginnings: Inspiring Stories of Thriving Moms in the Midst of a Pandemic.”

Feel free to send me a message on my Instagram, or LinkedIn and let us connect further (I have unpublished my Facebook Page for now for further revamping. Also, ignore my Twitter for now. I am yet to figure out what to do with it.)

LESSONS, LEARNINGS, ETC.

I am a Bachelor’s Degree holder in Broadcast Communication from the University of the Philippines since 2012. Current trainings and learnings are from corporate growth efforts, LinkedIn, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft Online courses (which they diminished in 2018.)

I have mentors turned friends in Photography, Corporate Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Business Laws and related Legal subjects, Marketing, which also help me out in Life choices.

Also, I volunteered to be an SDG 9 Ambassador under 2030 Youth Force in the Philippines for a little more than a year.

Sustainable Development Goal 9 is about “industry, innovation, and infrastructure” and is one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015.

Working ethics wise, I can also be very bold, stern, straightforward, and firm. However, my self-awareness knows when I should let loose and show warmth, understanding, listening, and obeying.

Being able to become a Marketing Manager at 27, I enjoy mentoring my subordinates and have a passion to master leadership, learning and unlearning, Business management, self-discipline, and marketing craftsmanship including photography. I currently sell photos on Shutterstock.

Whether personal or professional use, I enjoy doing DIYs of pretty much anything but also respect the quality of work by professionals. I like design thinking, creative solutions, and troubleshooting abstract problems and challenges.

However, my recent research and learnings have been focused on motherhood, parenting, and all the added value I can bring to help my new and young family live the best life.

WHAT MAKES ME HUMAN

Now, on to the fun part that you need not be interested about but might be. Aside from cats, I have a bias over pink which used to be blue. I also enjoy Multi-player games and have been playing computer games since 1995. My first computer use was even before I started kindergarten.

I don’t mind making mistakes but I hate it when people commit the mistake the second time around just because they were not mindful. Other excuses are somehow acceptable. And I have a hard time healing from lies and life-threatening mistakes.

Currently, I am into Mindfulness, Gentle Parenting, Swedish Death Cleaning, and Efficiency in both career-related tasks and household chores. I am also a coffee lover with a knack on super dark chocolate and likes my flowers either potted or dried properly.

I might add more if there is anything I might have missed but so far, this is pretty much who I am.
